
IBA Tournament Rules
Tournament Game Rules:
1.) All Games will be played under the rules of the National Federation of High School
Basketball with the following exceptions:
a.) Coaches are responsible for the actions of the parents and spectators
of their teams.
b.) Display good sportsmanship. Respect the game, other teams and officials
c.) Keep all cheering to a positive manner. No foul or berating language is permitted
Anyone using such language will be escorted from the gym. Anyone escorted
From the gym will not be allowed back for the remainder of the tournament.
d.) Officials have been instructed to have a “No Tolerance” attitude for foul or
abusive treatment.
2.) Game Format:
a.) Four 8 minute Quarters
b.) Clock will run the last 4 minutes of the game if there is a 15 point lead.
c.) 5 minute warm-up time
d.) 3 Minute Halftime
e.) After the 7th team foul is 1&1. After the 10th team foul is 2 foul shots
f.) Three 60 sec. timeouts per game, One 30 Sec. additional timeout in overtime.
g.) All overtimes are 2 minutes and start with a jump ball
h.) No Pressing or Trapping with a 15 point lead
i.) Start/Stop time on dead balls unless lead is larger than 15 points in 4th Quarter
j.) Teams must provide their own jerseys with alternate colors
k.) Teams must have four players to start a game. A 5 Minute grace period will be
allowed for more players to show before forfeiture of the game. (However,
there may be some extreme cases or unique situations which will be handled
accordingly at the time of the game)
l.) Teams are made up of players according to the 2007-2008 Grade level. Players
are allowed to play on more than one team and may play UP a level; however
a player may never play down a grade.
m.) Home Team is listed second on the schedule. Home team may choose their
jersey color.
n.) High School Regulation Ball 29.5 size ball. Teams will need to provide a ball
for the game.
3.) Team Pool Ties:
Teams who win both games (2-0) = 1st Place
Teams who are 1-1 = 2nd place
Teams who lose both games (0-2) = 3rd Place
In the event of a 3-way tie in pool play, point differential up to 15 will be used to seed teams
4.) Team Pools:
Teams with 2 wins – 1st Place
Team that wins their first game and loses their second game – 2nd Place
Team that loses their first game and wins their second game – 3rd Place
Team with 2 losses – 4th place
